Stump Grinding in Centennial, CO

Nothing Left Standing But Your Lawn. Ash coming down? We'll take care of the stump. Owner-operated, certified and fully insured.

Serving Centennial neighborhoods

We grind stumps throughout Centennial: Willow Creek, Homestead, Southglenn, Cherry Knolls, Piney Creek and the Smoky Hill area east of I-25. Centennial sits right next to our Littleton base, so it's an easy trip for us.

Many of these neighborhoods were built in the 1970s and 80s, so the trees planted back then are large now, and plenty of them are reaching the end of their lives. Big trees mean big stumps and wide surface roots, which we grind out along with the stump.

The owners show up to every job. We call Colorado 811 first, grind 6 to 12 inches below grade, and can haul the grindings away or fill and seed the hole.

EAB was confirmed in Centennial in 2024

Emerald ash borer was confirmed in Centennial in 2024, a year after the first Arapahoe County case in neighboring Littleton. Ash trees were planted widely in Centennial neighborhoods, so many homeowners are now deciding whether to treat their ash or remove it.

That decision is one for a certified arborist. The City of Centennial has EAB guidance for residents, including how to identify ash trees and what to look for: thinning canopies, D-shaped exit holes in the bark and heavy woodpecker activity.

Once your ash is down, we'll grind the stump below grade so you can replant with a different species. See our ash tree stump removal page for replanting tips.

HOAs and yards in Centennial

Many Centennial subdivisions have HOAs with landscaping standards. Check your covenants before removing trees, especially front-yard trees, and note whether a replacement tree is required. We can leave the spot ready for planting, or fill and seed it for a clean lawn.

The stumps we see most in Centennial are ash, honeylocust, Siberian elm, silver maple and blue spruce. Older silver maples and elms often have large surface roots that spread across the lawn. We grind those out along with the stump, so mention them when you send your photo.

Centennial stump grinding FAQ

Do you remove the ash tree too? We grind stumps. Have the tree removed by a tree service first, then send us a photo of the stump.

Can I plant a new tree where the ash was? Yes. Ask for a deeper grind and a soil fill, and plant a few feet off the old stump center if you can. Choose a species other than ash.

Do you work east of I-25? Yes. We serve all of Centennial, including Piney Creek and the Smoky Hill area.

Will you call 811 before grinding? Yes, before every job. Private sprinkler lines aren't marked by 811, so point out sprinkler heads near the stump.

How soon can you get here? Usually within 4 to 5 business days. That includes time for the free Colorado 811 utility locate we request before every job.

Big old trees, tight backyards

Trees planted when Centennial's older neighborhoods were built are now 40 to 50 years old. When those trees come down, they leave wide stumps with roots that can run under lawns, patios and fences.

Many of these stumps are in fenced backyards. Our equipment fits through standard gates, so we can usually reach them without taking down a fence panel. If your gate is narrow, or the stump is up steps or on a slope, mention it when you send your photo.

We typically grind 6 to 12 inches below grade. Go deeper if you plan to replant nearby, and add soil & seed if you want the spot back to lawn.

We also serve Littleton, Highlands Ranch, Englewood, Greenwood Village, Lone Tree and the rest of the Denver Metro. Send a photo of your stump for a free quote, or learn more about how our stump grinding works.
