Stump Grinding in Lakewood, CO
Nothing Left Standing But Your Lawn. From Green Mountain to Belmar. Owner-operated, certified and fully insured.
Serving Lakewood
We grind stumps across Lakewood: Green Mountain on the west side, neighborhoods around Bear Creek Lake Park, the Belmar area, and the established streets east of Wadsworth. Lakewood mixes large older lots with newer infill homes, and we're set up for both.
Lakewood is a short drive from our Littleton base, and the owners show up to every job. We call Colorado 811 before we grind, take the stump 6 to 12 inches below grade, and can haul the grindings away or fill and seed the hole.

Slopes, rock and foothill yards
West Lakewood yards near Green Mountain and the foothills can be sloped or rocky. Slopes and steps affect how we get the grinder to the stump, and rock in the soil can limit how deep we can grind.
Send a photo that shows the slope and the path from the street or gate to the stump, so we can plan the job and quote it accurately. Our equipment fits through standard gates, so fenced backyards usually aren't a problem.
If rock stops us short of the depth you wanted, we'll tell you on the spot and talk through options, like filling the spot with topsoil so grass can still grow over it.
Emerald ash borer in Lakewood
The City of Lakewood confirmed its first emerald ash borer case in 2024, and EAB has since been confirmed in neighboring Denver, Golden and Wheat Ridge. Lakewood Forestry has advised residents with ash trees to plan for treatment or removal, using licensed tree contractors.
Whether to treat or remove your ash is a question for a certified arborist. Signs to watch for include a thinning canopy, D-shaped exit holes in the bark and heavy woodpecker activity.
Once your ash is down, we'll grind the stump below grade so the spot is ready for a different species. See our ash tree stump removal page for replanting tips and links to Colorado State Forest Service resources.

Trees we see in Lakewood
The stumps we grind most often in Lakewood:
Ash. Common in yards and along streets, and now coming down because of emerald ash borer.
Cottonwood. Especially near Bear Creek, Weir Gulch and other waterways. Big trees with very large root flares.
Siberian elm and honeylocust. Common in older neighborhoods east of Wadsworth.
Ponderosa pine, Austrian pine and spruce. Evergreens on the west side and in foothill yards, often near foundations and fences.
